Content is Still King with New Google Search Algorithm Updates

For both traditional search engine optimization and search for mobile, you need to constantly keep informed on the latest changes with the major search engines such as Google, Bing, and Yahoo.  Google in particular has just updated their search engine algorithm which may come as a surprise to you when you notice that your mobile optimized pages and regular search engine optimized pages you have for your online presence may have jumped either up or down in the rankings.

Whatever the result, change is always a good thing if you keep one crucial point in mind: it’s still all about relevant content. The more important your content is, the greater your search engine results will appear since website content is still the major ranking criteria as far as Google goes.  Consistent relevant important and topical website content, that is!

Of course every blogger knows it’s not easy to keep your blogs, websites, and social media accounts such as Facebook Fan Pages updated with the content search engines are looking for, which is exactly the reason why outstanding sites and blogs get rewarded with search relevance, whether these search results are being displayed on your laptop, desktop, or mobile smart phone. Your mentality must be to be in it for the long run, as time and consistent effort win this race, not the shortcuts many have previously used (such as link farms, article sites, and spam “para-sites”) and have since been “google-slapped”.  It’s all about content in the new search world, and don’t let anyone tell you otherwise.

Websites and blogs that continue to produce solid and informative information will continue to see their usual Google search engine rankings rise and should not be affected by the latest Google algorithm changes.  However, “freshness” and “relevancy” are being considered as a ranking criteria now more than ever. The newest content on a particular topic will probably be served up first on a Google search, so continue to update your web content in a timely, consistent manner. This is crucial to your search engine marketing success. And unfortunately, like all good things in life, you have to work at it -every day, whether it be traditional website content or mobile content as well.

The best advice you can get if you want your website ranked high in the search engines is to keep your site continually updated with valuable and informative content! Update your pages and delete text that is obsolete or old. There are no shortcuts. Unless of course, you want to hire a new media development company that can perform these tasks for you, which again unfortunately, does not come cheap.
