There is an art to designing corporate websites, but it isn’t in the graphics, nor is it in the latest programming. It’s in the marketing, and there is a long island website design company that knows it. Their designs show off a corporation in a way that attracts customers, that shows them how the corporation can meet customer needs. They create rapport, putting themselves in the place of the corporation’s customers asking, “What is it about this company that attracts me?” “Why do I like their products? How would I use them? Why buy from them and not someone else?”

Many designers do not have the kind of background that this website design company in Long Island has. They focus on visual attractiveness, programming gimmicks, SEO keywords, or reporting on what the corporation does. Although those things are important, the key to a successful corporate website is letting their customers know that the company is there for them. If you are a corporation looking for long island web design, this may be the company for you.

Let’s take the questions above and play them out:

“What is it about this company/corporation that attracts me?” The things that usually attract customers are good service, warmth, fair treatment, quality products, and prices that reflect the quality fairly. Sales hype doesn’t work. Spelling and grammatical errors make the customer question the quality. Wrong numbers on a website frustrate. So does an impersonal treatise about the details of the company’s technology. Instead, it’s important for a web designer to convey concern for the customer on the website.

“Why do I like their products?” Quality, serviceability, attractiveness, usefulness. The customer won’t care how they’re made, at least not until after they’ve determined the rest. They’ll put quality before price, unless they’re going to use it only once or twice. They love, love, love testimonials, especially if they can tell they’re genuine. A good web designer will take all of these into account in their planning.

“How would I use them?” This question is important. Why should someone buy the product or service or watch the online movie, if there is no gain to them? A good designer finds out what the gain is (or could be) and shows it right there on the website.

“Why buy from them and not someone else?” This question helps refine the first one by adding a comparison with another company. Sometimes referring to what competitors are doing helps to define what it is about your company that could be included in the website to attract customers. Again, testimonials are helpful here.

If you are looking to work with a graphics designer, it’s important to have answers to these questions ready. They should ask for them, but you can also offer them. If you don’t know the answers, ask your favorite customers to answer them for you. Most returning customers are happy to help a company they like promote itself. They will give you the kinds of answers that will attract more customers like them. Feed these answers to your web designer to help shape the website, this is the art of good corporate web design.

Mobile loyalty rewards programs generally incorporate the use of sound mobile optimized website techniques. Getting a mobile website published can be tricky and yet it’s one of the most important steps in the mobile website set up process. After all, a mobile website isn’t much use if the millions of users on the mobile web can’t find it! So here’s the process of getting your mobile optimized website published in no time:

You’ll have to get the mobile site created via mobile optimized website designers and mobile marketing professionals. But before you can reap the benefits of your mobile optimized website, you have to do two things: create a mobile domain for your website and then set up redirection so mobile traffic gets driven to your mobile optimized site.

A mobile domain is a domain dedicated to a mobile website, usually designated with the letter “m” in place of the “www”, as in “m.YourSite.com”. A dedicated mobile domain gives your site a clean and simple URL and helps mobile users find you more easily. To do this, you have to access your domain registrar (GoDaddy, Hostgator, etc.) and create a “CNAME” alias called “m”. Then you need to point this new CNAME to the location of your new mobile website. Now your new mobile website url is short, simple, and easy to remember.

Now you need to set up your redirection script. When customers access your site via mobile or search, they will still arrive at the regular desktop site unless you install a redirection script, which detects when users are on a mobile device or tablet and instantly sends that traffic to your “m.YourSite.com” domain.

Confused? Most are. But that’s what mobile marketing companies are for – to do everything for you and create the interface that helps you do what you do best: run your own business without worrying about any hassles.

I think it’s safe to state that the adoption rates on mobile phones, iPads, and many other tablets are exploding in today’s mobile scenario. You can point to a number of studies done about the growth of the mobile market, but all you really have to do is look around you to see that mobile is for real and is here to stay (and way more!). All significant development work and campaigns are now structured to target the mobile audience as people become more and more familiar with this amazing technology.

It’s pretty obvious that everyone sees the need to go mobile. It’s not even a question anymore.Yet some companies are still slacking. With over $8.4 billion being spent on mobile in just 2012 alone, don’t you think it’s time to tap into this potential? Experts predict that number will grow to $37 billion in the next five years, so let’s first explain a truism in the world of mobile marketing that seems to go unnoticed but is essential to understand to become successful:

You’re better off keeping the customers you already have loyal than trying to go out and find new ones.

From an ROI perspective, trying to acquire new customers is a nightmare and can cost about 5 times more than just keeping your happy customers loyal to your brand through repeat purchases and referrals. If you’re familiar with the paper punchcard concept, developing a mobile loyalty rewards program is your best bet to avoid the new-customer acquisition costs that have skyrocketed.

Mobile is quickly surpassing desktop usage as the main way people use the internet for the majority of consumers. Besides a mobile rewards program, you need to be certain that your website is mobile optimized, since so many people are accessing websites via their smartphones and tablets. In fact, studies indicate that mobile is so indispensable to most consumers that they actually report a higher level of stress when separated from their devices. This is not a fad or trend. This the way of the world right now, and to sit back with your head in the sand saying mobile marketing is irrelevant is you doing a disservice to whatever your business is.

Today’s brands must raise their mobile presences through the use of mobile loyalty rewards programs that send out relevant marketing messages in the form of SMS text message marketing, mobile email, and push notifications. It’s that simple – and that crucial. But it’s also a tricky process.

Mobile marketing is quite different from desktop marketing. The key is that consumers expect mobile messages to add value to their lives and the threshold for spam is much lower on mobile than when you’re accessing the internet from a PC or Mac. This is a significant factor as to why so many mobile campaigns fail – it’s hard to consistently stay relevant to your target audience. You need to do it right and get it right the first time, so stop whatever it is you’re doing and take action NOW!

The first step in getting your product or service found in search engines is to choose powerful and relevant keywords in your website’s URL. But if you haven’t noticed by now, all the good keywords are taken for domain names. Fortunately, with the proper use of social media, that doesn’t have to doom you to SEO failure. The solution to this dilemma is a certain social media platform called “Facebook”, which allows you to get tremendous SEO benefits with a simple Fanpage that anyone can create for free.

Google is now indexing Facebook Fan Pages and Twitter posts in their search engine results. You hear many social media experts reinforce that fact over and over again, but for whatever reason they can never show concrete proof of results – until now, of course because you’ve come to the right place to learn about tying in social media with mobile marketing to blow away your competition.

Step one is to identify the keywords that best describe your business products or services. Then, go to your Facebook account and create a page and name the page with those keywords. Fill out all the required information, make an attractive cover page and profile graphic and create a few posts to make the page look active.

Now comes the tricky part, which is also the absolute essential part as well. You’ll need to get 30 or more people to “like” your page before Facebook allows you to create a custom URL for your newly created page. The custom URL is the trick – because although all the strong keywords are taken in domain name URLs, you can still get some pretty good ones on Facebook. Thirty “likes” seems easy, but it’s not as simple as it looks. Get friends, family, etc. to do you a favor, because once you get 30, you’re ready to blastoff.

Once you get those “likes”, Facebook allows you to select a custom URL for your page. From your Facebook Fan Page info page, select “edit page > update info” to find the link that allows you to do this. Select a keyword-rich username for your fanpage URL which will display to search engines as follows: www.Facebook.com/KeywordRichUsername

All you have to do now is consistently update this page with new and relevant content and you’ll start seeing some amazing SEO results over the long run. Here’s an excellent case story example. If you were to target the “medical office” industry with a listing/referral service, what are the odds of quickly developing a website and having it appear organically on Page 1 of Google? Realistically? Zero. We all know this, so stop listening to these fly-by-night SEO “gurus”. Instead, for one of our clients we created the page “Medical Office Leasing” on Facebook, got the required amount of “likes” for a custom URL and called the URL “https://www.facebook.com/medicaloffices”. (note the use of strong and relevant keywords) In just a few short months, the page has hundreds of likes and appears organically on first page Google under the amazingly strong (and generic) search term “medical office leasing“- which generated over 7.7 million results! – for FREE, with no paid advertising whatsoever!

Now you must be certain to link your Facebook Fan Page to your regular website domain and you get magic. People are finding your page through search, and visiting your website from the many posts you create on that fanpage. Add your mobile marketing campaigns here for even more opt-in exposure! As you can tell, it’s really a simple process, but the good news is this: no one does it! And the reason is it requires consistent dedicated work to keep an updated Fan Page that Google likes enough to index highly. Are you willing to do the work to see the results? If not, hire an agency that is.

Are you ready to learn the biggest secret the mobile marketing world doesn’t want you to know? Here it is: developing a mobile app for your business is a complete and total waste of money. Now for the corollary to that secret: it is however essential that you have a mobile version of your website since more and more people are using their smart phones and mobile devices for information, research, and purchases.

And therein lies the distinction: mobile websites are NOT mobile applications. Both require internet connectivity. Both serve the exact same purposes, but one costs anywhere between $20-50 thousand… where your mobile website presence may cost you a few cups of coffee a month. What? Your mobile marketing consultant didn’t tell you that? It’s time you got educated on where to spend your mobile marketing dollars.

No one needs to be convinced of the popularity of mobile. Social media giants such as Facebook and Twitter report the number of people accessing their websites is growing exponentially from mobile devices – and if the stats show that for the big players, it’s likely the same trend will apply to your business as well. That’s why in this day and age, it’s almost a requirement that your site renders well in an mobile browser – which is exactly the reason why you need to have a mobile optimized website to reach all these potential customers that are constantly on the move. Mobile optimized websites are no longer an option. Here are six reasons why you need to get started on developing a mobile optimized website right now:

1) Mobile searches are starting to surpass desktop searches, which means more people are actually looking for you on the go than at their regular computers. If your website is not mobile optimized, it will not render properly on a mobile device and your chance at capturing that customer’s attention decreases substantially.

2) Mobile smartphone users require speed, and your regular website might not load fast enough on a mobile browser. We’ve all been there trying to load a website on your phone and waiting, waiting, waiting – even on a 4G connection speed! Well, if you’re site is mobile optimized, that long downloading time for your regular site is eliminated and the mobile version pops up quickly. As they say in the ATT commercial with the kids, “would you rather have a website that loads fast or slow?” – that’s why mobile optimization is the way to go!

3) Navigation on a regular website may not be as intuitive as when the site appears in a mobile browser. If your site isn’t easily navigated, it’s a sure bet that the user will become frustrated at not being able to find the information they need and move on. Is it fun scrolling right/left/up/down when your regular website is displayed on a mobile device? Do you want to frustrate and annoy your visitors? An easy to navigate website is one of the top reasons to have your current site mobile optimized. We cannot stress this point enough and regular websites no longer cut it when it comes to your phone’s screen.

4) Text must be easily viewable as well on mobile devices since the screen size is so much smaller than the desktop version, meaning font size and selection is of paramount importance. What good is it if someone finds your site via search, downloads the page quickly and navigates to the page they’re looking for only to not be able to read the text display? Mobile website optimization solves this annoying issue that we all can relate to I’m sure.

5) People are shopping more on their mobile devices than ever before. If your website contains any e-commerce capability or lead capture, going with a mobile optimized version of your website makes more sense now than ever before! You need to present your product, how to buy it, get on a mailing list, contact you immediately and easily, and provide the mechanism that makes it easy and efficient to make the sale. Mobile optimized sites achieve this – your regular site on a mobile device probably won’t convert as easily. If you’re attempting to grow your business and make sales via the internet, this point alone should be convincing enough as to why a mobile optimized website is a necessity.

6) If your site is not mobile friendly, you will lose out to your competition that is proactive in this in search results and more. Many times people are looking you up at your URL for the first time via mobile. It is imperative you make that good first impression! Since people are accessing your site via smartphones, mobile optimized websites help make your customers happy, helping you build brand loyalty and repeat sales in the process.

Will a mobile app do all the above? Probably, but you don’t need to spend large amounts of money when all that’s required for a successful mobile presence is an internet connection and a website that meets all the benefits listed above. We have tons of experience building mobile optimized websites and can do this for a fraction of what you’re probably paying right now for mobile marketing services from those that are calling themselves “experts”, and pushing these expensive apps onto you.

The good news is all you need to do is add a few lines of code that we provide you to make this all happen, and the entire mobile optimization process takes about 5 business days from start to finish! The result will be your website being rendered correctly on any make and model of any Smartphone on the market. The best part is whenever you update your site or make any changes, these changes are automatically revised on your mobile optimized site as well. If your website is not currently mobile optimized, we strongly urge you to contact us and get the process started.

Well, we’ve covered all the facts in this article – can you really afford not to do this when technology is screaming in your face what your obvious next move should be? No, you certainly do not need a mobile app for your business – but a mobile optimized website is an entirely different story!

My last rant regarding the lack of social media and mobile marketing components in this year’s Superbowl has generated a lot of emails. Many have asked me what I thought were the best commercials during yesterday’s 2013 Superbowl. I must say, there really weren’t many that made me wish I worked on Madison Avenue, but here’s my pick for the Top 5 Superbowl commercials for 2013:

2013 Budweiser Super Bowl Ad — The Clydesdales: “Brotherhood”
From the perfectly chosen Fleetwood Mac music to the sentiment you get from watching this ad, I have to say there IS crying in football! The Clydesdales are a recurring theme with Budweiser and I have to admit I was wondering where they could take the story next. But they did a great job in this heartwarming piece.

Miracle Stain – Tide Big Game Commercial
I loved this ad, and it would have been my favorite of the game if I hadn’t cried during the Clydesdale segment. After this commercial was aired, the people at the Superbowl party I attended stood up and applauded. Now that’s impactful! Besides being humorous, this spot displayed a great mix of both urban legend and a nice tie into the Superbowl teams. But more important, the ad shows how the product (Tide) can have a significant impact towards laundry, a very ordinary part of life.

Skechers – GOrun 2 — Man vs Cheetah Big Game Commercial
I really like where they went with this as it starts off like a National Geographic info video and then very cleverly introduces the product as well as its benefits. The touch of humor at the end with the winks is classic as the entire piece made me remember the product, which is hard to do when you only have 30 seconds.

PRUDENTIAL — STICKERS 0:30
Not funny with no unique production value, but I like how they illustrate how important it is to save for your retirement. When you hear it over and over, it has no impact, but the way Prudential depicts it, it becomes memorable, almost in “scared straight” fashion.

Coke Chase 2013 Ad
I have to say, I always thought Coke and Pepsi ads were always on the cheesy side, but I like where they went with this. I like the call to action for engagement, which is key when you need to keep your name recognition out there amongst other major players in the same market. I found myself wanting to go to the website and actually vote. And I did! Mission accomplished Coke!

And here are the Top 5 Honorable Mention Super Bowl Ads in no particular order:

Best Buy – Asking Amy: Official 2013 Best Buy Game Day Commercial
She may be a little overrated in my book, but Amy Poehler nailed it in this one.

Audi 2013 Big Game Commercial – “Prom”
The concept of being daring worked for me, and the spot touched on feelings many of us have and can relate to.

Samsung Mobile USA – The Next Big Thing Extended Pitch
This a great commercial solely because it’s so funny with the insults. I just don’t know if it’s enough to make me remember the product.

Viva Young – 2013 Taco Bell Game Day Commercial
Who doesn’t want to stay young! But eating Taco Bell to do it? Well, maybe…

Mercedes-Benz 2013 Super Bowl Commercial (Extended Cut): “Soul”
A deal with the devil? It’s tempting the way it’s depicted in the ad and driving the Mercedes does it? YES!

I don’t think anyone can argue with the fact that the Superbowl is the yearlong culmination of commercials from the best minds in the advertising industry today. After all, it’s the only time people actually watch something on TV where they don’t fast-forward through commercials. That’s why big time companies pay high priced ad agencies literally millions of dollars to generate cutting edge, effective advertising campaigns that they hope will bring a brand to the forefront in front of consumers waiting to buy products and services.

Well, it that’s the case – and we all know it is – then I have some seriously bad news for Facebook and those that use the social media platform: it’s now become irrelevant and has officially reached its tipping point. There wasn’t a single Superbowl commercial that mentioned anything about Facebook, no Facebook URLs, no “like us on Facebook”, nothing interactive from a fan page, and not even the little “F” logo you see on business’ websites. NOT ONE!

Yes, judging upon what advertising industry experts seem to think is the latest trend, Facebook seems to be dead in the world of advertising relevance. The fact that Facebook is your universal passport to a number of websites means that it really won’t go away completely, but based on what I saw from today’s Superbowl commercials from the brightest minds in the industry who have supposedly done their homework, nobody’s marketing with Facebook anymore. The proof was right in front of your eyes – not a single commercial even mentioned it!

Not one ad addressed Pinterest, YouTube, Google +, or any other form of social media whatsoever either. What does that tell you?

Contrast that to Twitter, where almost ALL the ads had some sort of hashtag. The marketers have spoken and it’s all about Twitter these days. And mobile marketing? Well, that seems to be going the way of Facebook as well. There wasn’t one ad that asked you to text a keyword to a shortcode either. Nothing about mobile rewards, nothing about using your phone or iPad, and nothing about downloading an app. Translation: apps are way overpriced and overrated for your business. When someone tells you that you need an app for your business, tell them to watch the Superbowl.

We’ve been saying this for quite some time now: there’s nothing a mobile app can do that you can’t accomplish with your website, since basically, all an app is really is just a web-based application that does what your site does in the first place. Yes, it really is that simple, and recommending to businesses to spend $10K and upwards for a mobile presence is simply a waste of money.

Yet all the mobile marketers out there tell you it’s all about mobile and SMS text message marketing. Really? Go ahead and watch every single ad from this year’s Superbowl and let me know how that’s working out for you. If these Superbowl ad creators were idiots it would be one thing, but we already agreed that the Superbowl is the showcase of the best ads from the best marketers, right? And NONE of them saw fit to single out texting, keyword branding, app development, or Facebook.

If you own shares of Facebook, you better be giving this point some thought because I haven’t heard anyone out there mention this downward spiraling trend of ignoring Facebook. All I can say is their new Graph Search better be a real game changer or dare I say “MySpace”. Remember a few years ago, it was all about Facebook and getting “likes” to your fanpages. Remember a few years ago when all the mobile marketers where talking about texting a keyword and how mobile ad spending would be the rave of the future?

It’s not, and the reason it’s not is because marketers just can’t provide consistent value to consumers, and the mobile web – while useful at times – is just not user friendly in terms of a visible screen. It’s a good idea in theory, but as we’ve seen from this year’s Superbowl commercials, a complete waste of time and money to market. (Your time and money). No one from the mobile marketing world will tell you that, but that’s what we’re here for – to give you the straight scoop on all that is good and bad in the text message marketing and social media industries.

The ONLY form of mobile marketing that works are mobile loyalty rewards programs, and they’re so new that the people in these big-time ad agencies don’t even know about them (or maybe they do but can’t find one that actually works intuitively to the consumer). Again, we’ve been observing the mobile marketing industry for a long time and have come to this conclusion months ago. It’s nice to have the Superbowl prove us correct.

So what did we learn from the Superbowl? 1) Facebook fan pages are completely overrated and not a lot of time should be spent on them since they are increasingly being ignored. 2) You need to be Tweeting and taking advantage of what we call “hashtag marketing” on Twitter. 3) While everyone talks about mobile marketing being the rage (mostly mobile marketers), the ad world has given up trying to use mobile keywords to brand products. 4) Mobile loyalty programs are the only form of mobile marketing you should be spending money to develop.

Read more here about why Mobile Loyalty Rewards Programs make sense and why all these big-time high priced corporate marketing ad agencies are missing the boat on what REAL mobile and social media marketing is all about.

Facebook’s latest announcement of their “Graph Search” function could possibly be a game-changer in the world of search, giving way to the new phrase “Graph Search Optimization” or “GSO”. Yes, there are nay-sayers out there, but when one of the most powerful internet platforms says they’re announcing a major new function, it would be wise to take steps now so you and your business can capitalize on the new techniques for customers finding you. Watch this video for a great webinar on what GSO really means to you and what the steps you must take to prepare your Facebook Fan pages for the new Facebook Graph Search feature:

We already know how important Facebook fan pages are for your business. Just as every business needed a website when the web got big, if you’re in business without a Facebook presence today, you’ll soon find yourself out of business. The take-away from the video is that you must instill steps to increase real “likes” and “checkins” to your page, which means posting consistent relevant content. Note those key words: “consistent” and “relevant”. Nothing comes easy, but your GSO work will be rewarded handsomely if you stay focused.

There are a number of creative innovative ways to accomplish this, mostly all involving <a href="http://www.gottagotext.com" target=_blank">mobile marketing and sms text message marketing, since a significant percentage of Facebook users access the site via their mobile device. The bottom line is this (and this MUST be understood!): your chances of appearing on first page search results on Google are extremely slim. BUT, you may be able to found quite easily if you implement GSO, thereby giving you an advantage over your competition who still don’t believe that Facebook is here to stay.

GSO may be what you need to literally transform your business to a level you never thought possible with traditional and organic Google search. We’ll see… but I’m betting this will be a winner!

If you ever wondered how to use video, mobile marketing, and social media to promote your business, look no further than the example provided by the “I Love Beer” Show. The show’s mission is to promote craft beers and the establishments they visit while doing taste tests of such beers, then stream it live on their website and Facebook fan page for their subscribers to watch.

The show uses sms text message marketing with the very strong keyword “Beer”, and includes a call to action on the website and on every show to text the word “BEER” to the shortcode 69302 for show schedules and updates. Approximately 30 minutes before each show, a text message is blasted out to the entire mobile marketing database informing the recipient of the upcoming show, as well as the show location and a link for viewing. It works out great because it gives people just enough time to tune in on their computer, or watch the show directly from their mobile devices.

The Facebook fan page is set up so anyone wishing to view the show (or show archives) must first “Like” the page, a strategy that has amassed over 1,000 “likes” to the page. The formula seems to be working:

Use SMS text messaging to inform viewers of when a new show is about to start.

Stream the show live on the fanpage and the “I Love Beer” Show website homepage.

Indicate the proper call to actions on every show regarding opting into the mobile marketing campaign.

Archive the video on YouTube and tag the video with the appropriate keywords.

Write a keyword-rich blog post detailing exactly what happened on the show and embed the YouTube video along with links to relevant websites that open in a new window.

Provide a “tweet” and “Share on Facebook” option on every post page.

Post the link to the blog post on the Facebook Fan Page for all those visiting the page to see.

And there you have it! Through the use of video (live shows), mobile marketing (text KEYWORD to SHORTCODE), social media (Facebook fan pages and Twitter “tweets”), and the environment that ties it all together (website/blog), you can really promote ANY business like a pro. The problem is most people do not use the 7-step process outlined above. Here’s the key question: are you ready to commit to successfully marketing your business? If so, remember: there are no shortcuts. Follow the formula that has been working for the “I Love Beer” Show and you’ll see results for your business as well.

Start right now by getting an SMS text message marketing account or create your own mobile loyalty rewards program. And if you can’t see yourself doing all this yourself, hire an agency that knows what they’re doing and can get it all done for you effectively and affordably.
